Woburn, Massachusetts – March 2, 2010- Cambridge Research & Instrumentation, Inc. (CRi), a leader in biomedical imaging, has been chosen as a winner in Laboratory Equipment Magazine’s 2010 Readers Choice Awards. CRi’s Vectra™ Intelligent Slide Analysis System won top honors in the “Optics, Cameras and Image Analyzer” category.
The Readers Choice Award winners are chosen by scientists and engineers who subscribe to Laboratory Equipment, readers who represent the preferences of over 66,000 subscribers of the magazine, which provides news and information on laboratory products, technologies and trends. The winners will be recognized at a reception for leading equipment manufacturers in the laboratory marketplace at Pittcon 2010 in Orlando, Florida on March 2, 2010.
CRi’s Vectra is the world’s only intelligent multispectral fluorescence and brightfield slide analysis system for high-content, high-throughput applications. Vectra’s pattern recognition-based scanning, capable of processing up to 200 slides at a time, provides a more efficient and faster alternative to whole-slide scanning. The period of time to perform a study can be reduced from months to weeks, or even to hours. The Vectra system incorporates CRi’s powerful image analysis software, called inForm™, and CRi’s proprietary multispectral imaging algorithms- providing a powerful tool to extract per-cell multiparameter data similar to that found with flow cytometry, but uniquely maintaining morphological context.
“We are honored to receive this award for The Vectra system,” says CRi President & CEO, George Abe. “This award is verification of CRi’s ability to dramatically impact the speed, quality and reliability of the data collected from any tissue slide.”
