Litecontrol celebrated their 75th anniversary on May 4th. “This great milestone is a tribute to our current and former employees whose focus on quality and customer satisfaction has enabled us to withstand the test of time.” stated Brian Golden, Litecontrol’s President and CEO at the anniversary celebration that included Litecontrol employees, customers, and business partners.
Originating in Boston in 1936, Litecontrol relocated its business to Hanson in 1970. Growth in the business led to an expansion to a second facility in Plympton during the mid 1990s. “Litecontrol is a clear example that manufacturing is alive and well in Massachusetts.” comments Golden, a resident of Duxbury. “Many people in the South Shore don’t realize that we employ nearly 200 people from neighboring towns and operate two facilities, located in Hanson and Plympton. Because we ship most of our product outside of Massachusetts we tend to fly under the radar.”
A highlight of the celebration was an appearance by Bob Danforth, former owner and President of Litecontrol. Mr. Danforth presented the history of the Company, describing how Litecontrol began during the depression and how the Company has evolved since the 1930s. He noted, “it is great to see that there is a strong team at Litecontrol. Having been part of the Company for so many decades, it is exciting to see Litecontrol continue to grow. The employees of Litecontrol have a tremendous opportunity to write the company’s next chapter.”
As for the next chapter at Litecontrol, the future is bright. The company is seeing a growing demand for its energy efficient architectural lighting fixtures and controls and is experiencing significant sales growth. The company has a long standing commitment to sustainability from fixture design to manufacturing practices. They utilize the latest technologies to ensure that all products maintain the highest quality standards with the least impact on the environment. “We have grown to be a North American leader in high quality architectural lighting and are seeing our products begin to ship internationally. While we are steeped in a deep heritage, we have maintained a fresh view of the business and have many new products utilizing the latest technologies, including daylight controls and LEDs.” remarked Mr. Golden.
