UltrePET RECEIVES LETTER OF NON-OBJECTION FROM HEALTH CANADA

Bedford, Massachusetts, September 14, 2010 – UltrePET, LLC today announced that it has received a letter of non-objection from the Health Products and Food Branch of Health Canada approving the use of up to 100% of its polyethylene terephthalate (PET) recycled resins in the manufacturing of containers intended for packaging food and beverages, including water. This approval comes after an extensive review process. UltrePET has held similar FDA approvals for its post-consumer PET products for the past five years.
“The letter of non-objection from Health Canada is a significant step in our growth plans. We currently have an important presence in Canada through our plastics recycling subsidiary, Novapet, Inc., located in Nova Scotia. This Canadian approval will position us to expand our food container end markets and allow us to provide a complete sustainability solution to our strategic customers in the food and beverage industry,” said Scott Mellen, President of UltrePET.
Paul Zordan, Vice President and General Manager of UltrePET added, “UltrePET serves a variety of end markets with high value resins. This approval is exciting for the Company because it propels our sales growth internationally, opening food and beverage container markets for UltrePET in Canada.”
UltrePET, LLC is a major independent North American PET reclaimer, with operations in Albany, NY and Amherst, Nova Scotia. The Company specializes in high-end recycled resins serving the FDA bottle market, sheet applications, engineering resin markets and strapping. UltrePET is a partnership of wTe Corporation (Bedford, MA) and TOMRA of North America (Shelton, CT).
